  11. Adult English as a Second Language Conversation Class

    September 10, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM @ Hutto Public Library

    Conversation classes are a great way for non-English speakers to practice their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills with their peers in an informal setting. For instance, conversation classes can focus one day on “Going to a Restaurant” and students can practice ordering from a menu. Another day students can practice communicating with a child’s teacher or a co-worker. CNN Student News is also a great resource to be incorporated into the conversation class so that students can keep up to date with world news and have a group discussion. The class will be led by an adult volunteer twice a month on the second and third Thursdays of the month.

    Bid a fond farewell to summer by celebrating with the City of Hutto at the first annual “Reds, Whites, & Brews” event on Saturday, September 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. The evening will include tastings from Texas wineries and Texas breweries, as well as amazing food from local restaurants and catering companies. Live entertainment will help set the fun and festive mood. A silent auction, including many unique items, will be held throughout the event with bids awarded at the end of the evening. Tickets must be purchased in advance online at www.visithutto.com or by calling the Downtown & Tourism Department to schedule pick up in person. General admission includes 10 wine tastings or 10 beer tastings, 10 food vouchers, and a commemorative tasting glass for $35.
