Hutto Parks Advisory Board
The Hutto Parks Advisory Board was established in 1995 from various members of the community, several of whom served on the Leadership class offered by the Chamber of Commerce when they were looking for a community project idea. They determined that Hutto needed a park since none existed at that time. The Board was instrumental in creating the first ever Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan and sought grant opportunities which created Fritz Park and later the Cottonwood Trail and Hutto Lake Park projects.
The Hutto Parks Advisory Board is a Citizen Board appointed by City Council to serve and work with staff and the community to make recommendations to the City Council concerning planning, development and operations of parks and trails, assist in preparing grants, and meet with other interested persons with park development knowledge. The Board Members also volunteer at several of the Parks & Recreation Department's special events and programs promoting the parks & recreation system.
