Open Carry FAQ
Reminder: HB 910 related to open carry became effective Jan. 1, 2016. Issuance of the LTC prior to the effective date does not provide authority for license holders to open carry  before the effective date of the new law. House Bill 910 states the weapon has to be carried in a belt or shoulder type holster.

The Texas Department of Public Safety administers the Handgun Licensing Program.  More information on handgun licensing in Texas can be found here.
