For City of Hutto water service customers, residential sewer volume billing is based on the average of the customer's water consumption for the winter months of November, December, January, and February when water is typically lower due to minimal landscape watering. Each year this average is calculated and used for the following twelve months sewer volume billing. A flat rate is charged to sewer service only accounts or accounts that have not established a winter average history with the City of Hutto.
Hints to Reduce Winter Consumption
Hints to reduce your winter consumption and wastewater bill include:
- Use water for household use only; outside watering will only make the sewer rate higher.
- Check for leaks. Even a small leak can make a big difference in your water bill. Tablets to check your toilets for leaks are available in the Utility Billing office. If you should have a leak during the months we use for winter averaging (see above), please provide us with documentation so we may consider that when we are doing your average.
