Hutto Citizens' University
This program provides an “inside look” into City government and an opportunity for citizens to interact with City Council, boards and commission members, and staff members who provide services, establish budgets, construct capital programs, plan for growth, keep our neighborhoods safe, and create recreational opportunities.

Classes occur once a month beginning January and conclude with graduation in November. Class topics include the following:

  • City Administration
  • Development Services
  • Economic Development Corporation
  • Finance and Budget
  • Fire and Rescue Operations
  • Information Technology
  • Municipal Court
  • Parks and Recreation
  • Police
  • Public Works

To apply for the Hutto Citizens' University, applicants must be at least 18 years old, live in the Hutto community, demonstrate an interest in serving the community in a volunteer capacity, and are not currently a candidate for political office. Currently, the city is accepting applications and forming the 2018 class. Apply quickly!

Hutto Citizens' University Alumni Class Mission Statement
(Adopted November of 2007)

We are knowledgeable citizens willing to serve on City Boards, Commissions and Committees.

We are volunteers in on-going, already funded, City functions.

We are ambassadors of and for the City of Hutto.

We help recruit and educate other citizens about Hutto Citizens University.

We, the alumni, share our common fondness for the City and its growth.
