Chief of Police Peter Scheets
Peter Scheets, Chief of the Hutto Police Department, has served the citizens of Hutto since January 2012. His policing philosophy incorporates the use of community partnerships and problem solving techniques to proactively address the immediate conditions that give rise to public safety issues such as crime, fear of crime, and social disorder. It is the goal of the department to make a difference in improving the quality of life in Hutto for all citizens. He also supports the community through participation in civic organizations such as Keep Hutto Beautiful, the Lions Club, the Youth Advisory Commission, and well as numerous volunteer activities.
Prior to joining the Hutto team he worked for the United States Army as military intelligence officer and the City of Bryan as a police officer, detective, supervisor and administrator. Peter received his Bachelor of Arts degree in French Language and Literature from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and his Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice Leadership and Management from Sam Houston State University. Peter is also a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy. Email
