The Hutto Co-Op was started in 1938 and operated until 2001. What started as a gin quickly grew into more as grain silos were added along with a store and repair shop to meet the agricultural needs of southern Williamson County.

The iconic gin structures, located along U.S. 79 adjacent to Hutto’s historic Old Town, helped shape Hutto’s identity. The City purchased the site in 2003 to preserve the site’s local historical significance and also for the future location of City facilities.

Future of the Hutto Co-Op District

The Co-Op District is envisioned as an urban mixed-use development consisting of approximately 195,000 sf of residential, 275,000 sf of mixed-use, 142,000 sf of commercial/retail, and 60,000 sf of civic space. The site’s proximity to Hutto’s historic Old Town, existing commercial district, and access to U.S. 79 grants the Co-Op District a great location for a town center styled development.
