The Texas Economic Development Council announced the City of Hutto as a recipient of the EconomicExcellenceAward_2017annual Economic Excellence Recognition program for 2017.

“It is an honor that our City is being recognized for results and a commitment to create a balanced revenue base for the City driven from the business spirit of our Council ” said City Manager Odis Jones. “The City’s economic development team remains steadfast and poised for growth as we continue to strengthen Hutto’s economic vitality.” 

The awards were presented at a special breakfast on June 14 in Galveston, Texas. It was part of the TEDC conference. The Economic Excellence Recognition program provides recognition to economic development organizations that meet a desired threshold of professionalism.

Recipients qualify for recognition based on training taken by their governing board/council as well as the economic development director and professional staff. Certifications, professional memberships and activities, and organizational effectiveness of the economic development staff also contribute to the standards for qualification.  The organizational effectiveness of the staff speaks to the adoption of the City’s strategic plan and economic development policy illustrated by such innovative projects as the Co-Op District and growth in industrial development.
The City of Hutto joined 38 other recipients in this recognition.
