December 7, 2017 (Hutto, Texas) – Williamson County and Hutto officials celebrated the groundbreaking for the extension of CR 119/Ed Schmidt Boulevard from Limmer Loop to Chandler Road in Hutto, Texas, today.
The project will consist of constructing two lanes of a future four-lane roadway with shoulders and a traffic signal at CR 119 and Limmer Loop. The project design engineer is Stantec Consulting Services, Inc. (formerly Bury). The contractor is Joe Bland Construction. The cost is $6.64 million. The City of Hutto is contributing $1 million, and the county is funding the rest with voter approved road bonds. The project is anticipated to be completed in early 2019.
“We are excited about beginning construction on the extension of Ed Schmidt Boulevard from Limmer Loop to Chandler Road to accommodate the upcoming and future development in the area,” said Commissioner Larry Madsen, Precinct 4. “Those of us who regularly travel through this area are especially excited that there will be a traffic light coming to the intersection of Limmer Loop and CR 119 to improve safety and mobility.”
Odis Jones, City Manager/CEO, said, “We really appreciate the continued support and partnership of the county. This road is key for us, as it’s opening up a whole new corridor we can develop in the future. It ensures we’re not landlocked and it will continue to bring revenue to the city. The future is bright in the City of Hutto.”
