The City of Hutto is proud to announce the nomination of Hutto Public Library Supervisor Lisa Riggs for the 2017 “I Love My Librarian” Award from the American Library Association. Riggs joined the Hutto Public Library in 2013 and was promoted to library supervisor in 2017.
“I was completely caught by surprise and feel so, so honored,” said Riggs. “It made my heart soared to think someone would think of me for this award.”
Community members nominate their local librarian, explaining how they are made to feel welcomed, championed and supported in their reading goals. Riggs’ nomination included such high praise as "[s]he treats my children as if they are the most important thing to her and while I would like to think it is just because my children are awesome, I know it is because that is how she is with every child that walks through the library door."
The nomination submitted by Kerina Vineyard of Hutto continues "Miss Lisa is also heads up the teenage volunteer team. I don't know how she does it, but she has managed to get quite the large crew of teenagers that actually want to volunteer. My daughter looks forward to her volunteer time at the library!"
“I truly enjoy helping our patrons of all ages and trying to make their visit to the library the best visit possible. Helping them find books they are looking for, introducing them to a new author or series,” said Riggs. “love programming and introducing patrons to our library.”
