In order to establish utility services, the utility billing department must verify a credit report at the time the services are requested.

Residential water and wastewater customers - City of Hutto requires a deposit of $150.00 - $250.00 based on a credit report at the time service is requested.

Residential wastewater customers - City of Hutto requires a deposit of $100.00 - $200.00 based on a credit report at the time service is requested.

Waiving the deposit may also be taken into consideration based on the credit report at the time service is requested.

If services are disconnected for non-payment the following may occur:

- A deposit or an additional deposit will be charged, plus an additional processing fee.

Non-residential Service Deposit
For non residential accounts, a credit report is required, as well as, a utility deposit equal to at least twice the average monthly bill of that establishment or a similar establishment of its kind. The minimum non-residential deposit is equal to the residential deposit.

A bank letter of credit containing terms specified by the Director of Finance may be accepted in lieu of a cash deposit. Federal and State political subdivisions, as well as County and Hutto Independent School District accounts, are not required to post a utility deposit.

Deposit Required After Termination
A standard utility deposit is required of any utility customer, regardless of payment history, if utility service has been disconnected for nonpayment.

Refunding a Deposit
The deposit shall be refundable (without interest) upon discontinuance of service providing the monthly charge for services of all kinds indicated on the monthly billing has been paid in-full.
