Speed Monitoring

The Hutto Police Department purchased a Speed Monitoring Awareness Radar Trailer (SMART) in 2003. In 2018 the Hutto Police Department replaced the SMART with the newer more functional SAM-R trailer. It is a portable, self-contained speed display unit and public relations tool. It measures and displays the speeds of approaching vehicles, while also displaying the speed limit for that particular location. It has been widely acclaimed by the community.

Requesting the SAM-R

The need for the SAM-R is highly requested by citizens throughout the city. To request for the SAM-R to be placed in an area within the city, please complete a traffic complaint form or contact the Police Department.
