Purpose

The purpose of the Americans with Disability Act/Electronic and Information Resources (EIR) task force is to improve accessibility to the documents and processes of city governance for people with physical, cognitive and learning disabilities

Scope

The seven-member Task Force will serve in an advisory capacity to the City Council and City staff in the areas of physical and electronic accessibility. This will begin with research and gap analysis. The group will then develop proposed guidance and techniques to make web content, content authoring, and user agent implementation accessible and more usable by people with cognitive and learning disabilities, as well as insure the physical processes are accessible by residents protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act. It will also review existing techniques and consider ways to improve them, and recommend building new techniques where necessary.

Summary

Members of the Task Force must be residents of the City of Hutto and/or the Extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ). Qualified applicants will be selected by the City Council for a one-year term and will serve in an advisory capacity only. Members will meet once per month and will prepare an agenda and document the meetings with official minutes. The Task Force will be responsible for reaching out to the community to determine what accommodations and techniques will be best suited for increasing accessibility to the documents and processes of governance to those residents with physical, cognitive or learning disabilities. The Task Force will ultimately be responsible for presenting their recommendations to the City for making the City's accessibility efforts more effective.

Application Process

Anyone living or working in the City of Hutto, and its ETJ, is eligible to apply for the Task Force. Simply download and complete an application.
