Budget Preview: The Story of Hutto
The story of a city is perhaps best told and understood through its annual budget. From the way the budget is written and developed, to the path and priorities it sets—you can tell a lot about a community from the city budget. We
hope you'll take time this summer to dig into the pages of our story—our budget book, that is!
Here in Hutto, City leaders are proposing a $40.2 million
annual budget
for Fiscal Year 2023, which begins on Oct. 1, 2022. Like the chapters of a novel, we are breaking down the proposed budget into parts to read over a few "Fiscal Fridays," as follows:
Prologue: budget preview (July 29)
Chapters 1 to 4:
budget highlights for each of the City's four pillars/goals:
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Chapter 3
Chapter 4
Epilogue:
recap, tax rate, and next steps
And like any good book club, the budget is sure to inspire great discussion and healthy debate! Comments and feedback are welcome at
[email protected]
, or at these Hutto City Council meetings:
- August 4: Proposed budget presented for Fiscal Year 2023
- August 18: Present certified tax rolls
- September 1: Public hearing on proposed budget; first reading to adopt budget
- September 8: Special called meeting re: proposed tax rate
- September 15: Second reading to adopt budget; vote to adopt the tax rate
Check this page each week this summer for a new chapter in The Story of Hutto: Proposed Budget 2023! Also, we hope your received in early August a special mailer from the City of Hutto about the budget, tucked inside your Community Impact newspaper.
