Kristi Barnes, community outreach and programs manager with the City of Hutto, recently earned a Certified Tourism Executive (CTE) designation from Travel & Tourism College, a program of the Texas Travel Association (TTA).
Travel & Tourism College (TTC) provides participants with an intensive professional education full of marketing, leadership and management courses taught by college professors and seasoned travel and tourism professionals from around the country.
City Manager James Earp applauded the achievement and noted the professionalism and competency it represents. Since starting with the City in April 2016, Ms. Barnes has made a significant impact on community partnerships, special events, cultural arts, and the Hutto small business community.
"Ms. Barnes’ role in Hutto is focused on community outreach, and a large component of that role is tourism,” Mr. Earp said. “Completing the program for Certified Tourism Executive sets the tone for the next phase of her service to the community. I am very proud of her commitment to effectively serving visitors and locals alike.
During her three years of study with TTC, Ms. Barnes completed courses on topics such as management excellence, “Texas Friendly” hospitality, eco-friendly tourism products, tourism marketing, hands-on strategies for crisis situations, and how relationships affect advocacy and engagement.
“Having completed this program gives me a tremendous sense of accomplishment as well as many new resources to pull from as we promote our remarkable, growing community,” she said. “The tourism industry is constantly evolving, and the Texas Travel Association stays current with changes and trends.”
Ms. Barnes will be recognized at the Sept. 1, 2022, Hutto City Council meeting.
