Wine bar coming to Historic Downtown Hutto this fall

Hutto Wine Bar

Cheers, hippos! The Hutto Wine Bar is set to open its doors this fall as Hutto’s first-of-its-kind wine destination in Historic Downtown Hutto. Located at 105 East Street, the Hutto Wine Bar will feature wine flights in addition to wine by the glass and by the bottle.

Owner Meg Hiney has called Hutto home for over 13 years and says she is eager to provide the community with a space to relax, feel comfortable, spend time with friends, and explore wine.

The customer experience is designed to be conversational, with available wines organized by region and wine experts on hand to help guide visitors to their favorites. Hiney is teaming up with other local businesses and wine vendors to provide not only a variety of wine offerings, but snacks and charcuterie as well.

Believing in her vision and business model, the Hutto Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) approved a 3-year incentive agreement for the small business, made up of a combination of grants and sales-tax reimbursements. Incentivizing the Hutto Wine Bar falls directly in line with the HEDC’s priority of supporting small businesses, particularly within Historic Downtown Hutto, and reinforces the organization’s commitment to foster all types and sizes of business development in Hutto.

The HEDC will provide the Hutto Wine Bar with grants during each of its first three years in operation, which is a critical time for any small business to establish itself. The Hutto Wine Bar can also earn up to 50% sales tax reimbursement made up of both City and HEDC sales tax revenues. The Hutto City Council approved the incentives agreement on September 7.

The venue at 105 East Street includes over 1,500 square feet of indoor space in addition to an outdoor backyard patio seating area. Hiney plans to host pop-up shops at the Hutto Wine Bar featuring local home-based vendors to help provide opportunities and support other small businesses.

A tentative soft opening of the Hutto Wine Bar is set for October 7, just in time for the Hutto Old Tyme Days festival. A grand opening is set for early November. For more information on the Hutto Wine Bar, follow @thehuttowinebar on Instagram.
