As of Monday morning, Jan. 15, icy conditions may exist on area roads, especially bridges and elevated roadways. Please limit travel. If you must get on the roads, drive slowly, add space before the car of ahead of you, and plan for increased stopping distance. Approach road crews and emergency vehicles very carefully.
Wind chills through this Wednesday (Jan. 17) are expected to be sub-zero or near zero degrees. If you must go outside, even briefly, be sure to dress in layers to protect against the windchill. (See our #bundleupHutto challenge at https://www.facebook.com/HuttoTX)
In anticipation of this weather event, the City of Hutto has pre-treated elevated roadways and bridges and will take additional steps as needed. The City also stands ready to open a warming center in the event of prolonged power outages or if any other emergency situation develops. If the City opens a warming center, that information will be shared here on the City of Hutto website, and through wireless emergency alerts.
We encourage everyone to sign up for wireless emergency alerts through WarnCentralTexas.org and to save these important phone numbers for emergencies:
