“Every beautiful town needs a beautiful flower shop!” It was with this motto in mind that Misty Faglie opened her own small business in November 2019. Hutto Flower Market provides the community with high quality florals, plants and gifts while also providing top-notch customer service.
While making the jump into entrepreneurship might have been a big leap, Faglie knew right what she was getting into.
“I have been in the floral industry for 20 years, since the age of 18,” she said. “I’ve always wanted to open my own shop, so I spent many years learning everything there is to know about the floral industry from my wonderful mentors.”
With a background steeped in florals, Faglie was able to pour her heart and soul into building another part of her business: its relationship with the community. One of the unique facets of the floral industry is the personal connection that many florists have with their customers due to the nature of the business.
“We are here for our community through all of life’s stages,” she said. “We want you to know that no matter what, you’ve got a friend at Hutto Flower Market. We laugh, we cry, we celebrate with you. Flowers are our passion, but our community is the reason we are here.”
While opening a small business can seem intimidating enough, Faglie had to overcome an additional hurdle when it came to launching her small business – the pandemic. After months of planning, Hutto Flower Market opened in November 2019. Just four months later, the business had to temporarily close due to the spread of COVID-19.
“We fought through, because Hutto needed us. We came back stronger than ever and we are so thankful for our wonderful community for sticking by our side while we began to navigate running our business during a pandemic,” Faglie said.
Her fight continues to pay off as Hutto Flower Market, currently located at 6020 FM 1660 N, Suite D, is set to expand into a larger, more centralized space at 117 East Street, Suite 100 this summer. She attributes her success to doing her homework and working together with other businesses to support each other.
“Educate yourself on every aspect, always,” Faglie said. “Always be willing to learn. Know what you bring to the table. Work together with your fellow businesses. Together, we can thrive.”
