Sales and Use Tax Information
The sales and use tax rate for the City of Hutto is 8.25%. Only 2% of the sales tax collected goes towards the City as 6.25% of sales tax is remitted to the State. In 1997, Hutto citizens elected to have a 0.5% Type 4A sales tax devoted to economic development through the Hutto Economic Development Corporation.

Property Tax Information
The City of Hutto property tax rate is $0.631351 per $100 assessed value. Levied property taxes are collected for the use and support of the City of Hutto municipal government.  By City ordinance, property taxes are apportioned as follows:

  • $0.397768 for the maintenance and operations of the general government
  • $0.233583 for bond debt service incurred to support the general government

County Tax Assessor-Collector
The Williamson County Tax Assessor-Collector collects the City’s property taxes. Taxes are billed in October of each year and are due upon receipt of the statement. By State Law, on January 1, a tax lien is automatically placed on the property to ensure taxes are paid. On February 1, penalties and interest begin to accrue. Hotel Occupancy Tax
The City of Hutto occupancy tax rate is 7% of the cost of the room, space, or facility. This tax applies to all hotels, motels, tourist homes, tourist court, lodging house, inn, rooming house, or bed and breakfast within the City limits and extraterritorial jurisdiction.

The tax is not imposed if the person has the right to use the room at least 30 consecutive days and there is not interruption of payment for the period.

A report must be filed:

  • Quarterly: No later than the 30th day of the month following the end of the calendar quarter
