Ms. Vela serves as Sr. Police Management Assistant for the Police Department which includes Administration, Patrol Services and Support Services. As a management assistant, she serves the day-to-day operations of the various divisions while providing diverse, complex administrative support. Ms. Vela also provides direct support to the Chief of Police and Assistant Chief of Police and assists Command Staff as needed.
Ms. Vela has served the Hutto community since November 2006. She began her assignment with the Police Department in 2009. Prior to this assignment, she served in the City Manager’s Office, the Community Development and Finance Departments. She earned her Certified Public Manager certification in December 2017. Previously, Edna worked for the City of Round Rock and adds an extensive background in Utilities and Municipal Court to her experience.
